In this first fascinating workshop, you’ll learn how to capture this stunning piece of architecture in the heart of Barcelona.
First Ian teaches you how to sketch a loose outline, capturing basic shape, scale, and composition. Watch as Ian breaks down the next steps helping you to create an outline using fine liner. Using a limited range of 5-6 colours you will learn how to add beautiful colour to your sketch helping to create a sense of framing, space and feeling. You will then finish off by learning how to add that all-important detail.

In workshop 2, Ian goes off the beaten path and shows you how to draw the façade of this classic Spanish church and courtyard with its two prominent trees.
You’ll learn how to tell the story and capture the feeling of this special location while learning some advanced methods for drawing a sweeping extended building.
You’ll learn the thought process behind choosing an effective composition while creating depth and using the two trees an anchor points for the structure of your sketch.
No matter what facade, angles or obstructions you’re presented with, by the end of this delightful workshop you’ll have the skills and know-how to capture it perfectly.

In workshop 3, we head to Barcelona’s gothic quarter to focus on stunning marble and intricate details. In this busy area, Ian shows you how to gain inspiration from the energy and atmosphere of a location.
This is a strong scene in terms of perspective, so watch, listen, learn and follow along as Ian shows you how to find your vanishing points, work outwards and add depth.
You’ll discover how Ian choose the colours from a specific device to bring this sketch to life.
Ian then teaches you how to draw the details that make all the difference; from cobbled streets, to gargoyles, to gothic lamps.

And the real ‘secret’ here is knowing which marks to put on your page, and what to leave off. Once you understand this, you can capture the essence of any location within minutes.

In the second Quick Sketching class, you will be focusing on a 30-minute sketch black and white sketch that will be broken down into 3 parts.
This workshop focuses heavily on creating big shapes, adding lots of tonal value, helping to create of a sense of dimension.
Learn to draw across two pages, helping you to loosen up, let go and capture these locations in a quick and fun way!
This scene is packed full of some wonderful details, such as statues, a deep alleyway with balconies, gothic lamps and more!

In Quick Sketching class 3, you’ll warm up your skills with this 30-minute sketch. You’ll be sketching this truly iconic Gaudi building. You’ll be focusing on front elevation whilst learning how to add these stunning organic architectural features into your quick sketch.
The focus of this workshop is very much on how to place and correctly scale all the different elements on your page. And it all begins with capturing the outline, scale, and the strong sense of organic features of Casa Batllo.
This building is filled with lots of fascinating windows, watch as Ian teaches you how to add these details in a quick sketch, how to add tone quickly using brush pens and using blacks to add solidity to the shapes and fine liners to add detail.

In Quick Sketching class 4, you’ll be staying at this wonderful location. Because a building as iconic as this one certainty needs a bit more focus.
Find out how to look at the scene in a new way by completing a quick sketch. Learn how to capture this building in just 30 minutes by focusing on capturing the essence of this building, while leaving out the unnecessary detail.

In Quick Sketching class 5, we’re heading to Casa Mila. Learn how to capture these wonderful organic wavy shapes. Learn how to draw the outline over two pages, using loose lines to create curves. Learn how to use brush pens to mark shapes quickly, add tonal value and use a range of different pens to create that wonderful scrolly detail. Ian will teach you his tricks, such as how to repeat patterns to add detail when sketching quickly.

No matter where you are in the world, sometimes you see something you’ve just gotta draw! In this final quick sketching class, Ian spotted this classic Spanish moped and he just had to stop and draw it!
So, in class 6, you will be drawing this urban motorcycle in just 5 minutes. You’ll use brush pens to quickly add tone and outlines to produce a lovely, effective quick sketch.
